Cullen Pickett & Pickett Pro Rodeo
Cullen Pickett, owner of Pickett Pro Rodeo, is a second-generation stock contractor from Fairfield, Texas. His father, Asa Pickett, began his rodeo career in the late 1960s as a pickup man, earning selections to numerous finals and working major rodeos across the country. Asa later established a breeding program that would go on to produce many NFR animals and world champions.
From a young age, Cullen was immersed in the rodeo world, working in various roles such as bullfighter, pickup man, flank man, and chute crew. He also competed as a contestant on both ends of the arena. As Asa began stepping back from the business, Cullen was determined to take it to the next level. In 2003, he purchased his own PRCA stock contracting company and made a significant investment in the breeding program. In 2008, he expanded further by acquiring the renowned J-J breeding program, and in 2009, he set a record by purchasing the legendary stud Nightjacket for $250,000. In 2023, Cullen received the prestigious call that Nightjacket was being inducted into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame.
Cullen’s wife, Mandy, also comes from a strong rodeo background. She competed at all levels, including the College National Finals, and her father is a PRCA stock contractor as well. Today, rodeo remains a family tradition with their children, Masa Kay and Creston, growing up in the industry. Together, the Picketts produce and contribute to some of the largest rodeo events in the country.
Pickett Pro Rodeo has built a reputation for excellence, earning multiple championships and awards, including:
• Bareback World Champion titles in 2020, 2023, and 2024
• NFR Horse of the Finals winners in 2019 and 2021
• Runner-up Bull of the NFR
• Top NFR Bareback Winner in 2024
• Numerous Circuit Finals awards
Beyond their exceptional stock, Pickett Pro Rodeo is known for hiring some of the best professionals in the business and producing some of the most memorable rodeo openings in the industry. Their innovation and professionalism have made them a respected and sought-after name in professional rodeo.

Jake King grew up in a rodeo family, with his dad riding bulls in PRCA rodeos and raising bucking bulls. His mom rode for Catalena Cowgirls and cut horses. Jake’s wife, a trick rider, starred in the TV show Great American Cowgirl Chicks. Jake has two young children, Olen (2) and EmmyLou (3).
His rodeo journey began in high school, where he roped, bulldogged, and fought bulls. He later fought bulls and steer wrestled at Hill College. Having been involved with bucking bulls since he was 17, Jake’s passion for bullfighting grew from helping his friends to mastering the art of it.
