Lifeguards on Horseback

Preston Johnson is the third generation of a family deeply rooted in rodeo. His grandfather, renowned stock contractor Bernis Johnson, and his father, six-time Texas Circuit Finals pickup man David Johnson, instilled in him a love of bucking horses and a lifelong passion for the sport. Today, Preston proudly carries on that legacy as a two-time Texas Circuit Finals pickup man. Alongside his wife, Shoney, he is now passing that same passion for rodeo on to the fourth generation as their children continue the family tradition in the arena.

Cam King is a 23-year-old PRCA pickup man who has quickly earned a reputation as one of the sport’s rising talents. For the past two years, he has worked full-time with Pickett Pro Rodeo, where his exceptional horsemanship, strong work ethic, and calm professionalism have made him a valuable part of the team. Dedicated to both the horses and the sport, Cam continues to build a promising career as one of rodeo’s up-and-coming pickup men.
